Glitter & Glow Block Party
4 - 11 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 14
Glow, baby, glow! Glendale Glitters holiday light display concludes with a rockin’ block party, Glendale Glitter and Glow, on Jan. 14, from 4-11 p.m. with fun for the whole family!

Take in the stunning 1.5 million lights along with more than 20 hot air balloons glowing brightly amidst the trees throughout 16 blocks of Historic Downtown Glendale.  The dazzling scene of vibrant glowing colors and twinkling lights will inspire awe among children and adults alike. Read More

Teen Library Council Meeting

Earn volunteer service hours, have fun and meet new people all while helping to make the library a better place for teens. The Velma Teague Branch Library is currently recruiting teens to provide input on the selection of books and music for the library's teen collection and to participate in the planning and presentation of library events. Teen Game Café

Challenge your friends and other teens to a variety of Wii and PlayStation game favorites. Board games including chess, checkers, Battleship, Monopoly and others will also be available. First Saturdays showcases artists at work, while encouraging visitors to tour historic downtown Glendale and enjoy various boutiques, shops and dining options. Working artists set up in the renovated walkway just east of downtown Murphy Park at 58th Avenue. First Saturdays is aimed at helping the local arts community connect with the unique businesses in Glendale’s Centerline district while creating a free cultural event. CPR and First Aid Training

Be prepared in an emergency! Learn basic CPR and first aid, providing you the knowledge and skills necessary to administer emergency care in cases ofinjury or sudden illness. Discovering AZ, Our Cultural Roots with Opendance
2 – 4:30 p.m., March 12-15. Four-day program.
OpendanceAZ, a non-profit arts and educational company, will lead this program with reading, writing, drawing and dancing. Learn Native American, Mexican, Country Western and Hip Hop dance,  culminating with a performance for families. Sponsored by a grant from the City of Glendale and the Glendale Arts Commission.   • Teen Iron Chef - Hunger Games Edition: March 19. The Capitol is known for its luxuriousfood and drink, but they never had to work with a Secret Ingredient! Pit your culinary skills against other teens, and have your creations sampled by a panel of judges. (Register starting March 5)
  • Capitol Style: March 20. Residents of the Capitol make Lady Gaga look tame. Try out some body paint, temporary tattoos and wild hairstyles. (Register starting March 6)
  • Survival Skills: March 21. How would you fare in the Arena? Do you have the knowledge and training to stay alive? Pick up valuable survival skills before you become a Tribute. (Register starting March 7)
  • Hunger Games Library Scavenger Hunt!: March 22. Use your wits, cunning and master library skills to bring your district into first place at this library-wide information hunt. (Register starting March 8)

Folk & Heritage Festival
10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, March 24 and 25
A great family event celebrating folk music, its history and culture. More than 150 performers feature everything from folk and bluegrass music to cowboy poetry and storytelling. There will be six performance venues, including an Arizona Centennial venue, along with workshops by accomplished entertainers and musician “Jam Session” locales. Historic site tours, blacksmith demonstrations, games and activities, a food court and more! Plan now to attend this award-winning event. Free admission.
